Thank You to Everyone Who Supported the Event
Players and Weather Conditions
The early arrival of winter weather created a difficult playing environment. Cold temperatures, wind, and light snow challenged every competitor. Thank you to all players for showing up prepared, staying focused, and bringing a positive attitude throughout the weekend.
Volunteers
Our volunteers played a crucial role in the success of the 2025 Nickel City Open. Several high school students stepped up as spotters and stayed on the course for both days, even as temperatures dropped and winter conditions set in. Their commitment helped keep play moving smoothly and safely throughout the event.
We want to extend a sincere thank-you to every volunteer who donated their time. Your effort, resilience, and willingness to work in cold, challenging weather made a significant impact on the quality of the tournament. The event would not have run as well as it did without you.
Raffle Support
Our event raffle was a major success. The contributions from donors, the enthusiasm from ticket buyers, and the volunteers who helped run it all played a big role in supporting the club. Thank you to everyone who participated.
Sponsors
A special thank-you goes to Twin Stacks and Tourism Sudbury, as well as all our Tournament Sponsors! Their support made the 2025 Nickel City Open possible. Their continued investment strengthens disc golf in the Greater Sudbury region and helps our local scene grow.
Looking Ahead to the 2026 Event
The 2026 Nickel City Open will introduce several major upgrades. The tournament is officially moving from November to Labour Day Weekend, giving players a far better seasonal window and a more enjoyable competition experience.
We are also proud to announce that the event has been accepted into the 2026 Ontario Tour, sanctioned by the Ontario Disc Sports Association (ODSA). As part of the tour, the Nickel City Open will serve as a provincial qualifier, offering players an official pathway to compete at the next level within Ontario’s competitive disc golf structure.
Next year’s tournament will also feature over $4,000 in added cash, bringing one of the largest purses in Ontario. With improved weather, increased payouts, and Ontario Cup Tour qualifier status, the 2026 Nickel City Open is already shaping up to be our biggest and strongest event yet.
