Twin Stacks Opens with a Bang: League Night Launches with Pro Cameo and Community Spirit

Nickel City Disc Golf proudly launched our brand-new Twin Stacks Disc Golf Course on Monday, May 12th, with an unforgettable first league night that set the tone for an exciting season ahead.

Inaugural league night at twin stacks

Despite being our debut league event, 23 enthusiastic players came out to throw down on the freshly finished layout—and to our surprise and delight, Canada’s top DGPT tour pro Thomas Gilbert joined the festivities, giving local players the chance to see elite-level disc golf up close. Thomas's presence added energy, inspiration, and a few jaw-dropping shots to the evening.

The vibes were high all night, fueled in part by the popular golf cart drink server, who kept the refreshments flowing and spirits even higher. With players laughing, competing, and trading stories between holes, the community atmosphere was exactly what we hoped to create.

Even more encouraging was the sheer amount of feedback we received. Players came ready with ideas and suggestions to improve the course, and we welcomed it all. From tee pad tweaks to basket placements and signage improvements, it was clear that our community is deeply invested in making Twin Stacks a course we can all be proud of.

This first league night wasn’t just about birdies and pars—it was about building something together. We're grateful to everyone who showed up, played, cheered, and helped shape the future of disc golf in the Greater Sudbury Area.

If this first night was any indication, Nickel City Disc Golf is off to one heck of a start.
